The LSU Tigers are the collegiate football team that represents Louisiana State University in NCAA Division-I football. The LSU Tigers play in the Southeastern Conference one of the oldest and most prestigious in the country. The SEC is full of fierce competitors and the LSU tigers are no exception, with 3 National titles including one from 2007, 13 Conference titles the most recent in 2007 and 7 Division titles the Tigers have proven that they are here for football glory.
The Louisiana State University Tigers make regular appearances in the postseason Bowl Series. The LSU Tigers have played in 9 bowl games since 2000 winning 7 of them including a beautiful victory over Notre Dame at the 2006 Sugar Bowl and a nail-biter at the 2003 BCS National Championship Game at the Sugar Bowl vs. Oklahoma. Along with almost always appearing in the Bowl Series, the LSU Tigers annually face off against rivals the Tulane Green Wave, the Ole Miss Rebels, the Auburn Tigers, the Alabama Crimson Tide, and the Arkansas Razorbacks.
LSU Tigers fans may be some of the most entertaining in the Southeastern Conference. Due to Louisiana's French heritage fans often give "French" nicknames to new comers at LSU, especially coaches, for example Nick Saban is affectionately referred to by fans as Nick Cest Bon. Fans also participate in lots of heckling towards the other team and often shout insults in Cajun French at the opposing team. Probably the most interesting tradition that the LSU Tigers participate in is there white LSU jerseys. Louisiana State University is the one of a only a very small few teams that wear white jerseys at home games, unlike NCAA basketball there is no jersey rule teams just traditionally wore their darker jerseys at home. LSU, however prefers their white jerseys at home and often encourages fans to "white-out" the competition.
