Rebels Football

The University of Mississippi, affectionately known as Ole Miss, is represented in NCAA Division-I football as the Rebels football program. The Rebels football team plays in the Southeastern Conference along with 11 other member schools. The first Rebels football team was fielded for the Ole Miss Rebels in 1890 and was the first football team formed in the state of Mississippi.

The Rebels football team plays in multiple rivalry bowl games every year. The fiercest rivalry is with in-state fellow SEC rival Mississippi State Bulldogs. The two teams meet annually for the Egg Bowl where they battle over the Golden Egg Trophy, which is presented to winning team, this game has been played since 1901 with 2003 marking the 100th game. The Rebels football team also play in the annual Magnolia Bowl against SEC rival LSU and the newly named Nut Bowl against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

No matter who or when the Rebels football squad is playing, Ole Miss fans are always supportive. The Rebels football fan base can almost always be counted on to be decked head to toe in the University of Mississippi school colors: Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue, they are also known for their rowdy cheering including the famous "Hotty, Toddy" cheer.
