Frank Kinard
Frank Manning Kinard, also known as “Bruiser”, was a University of Mississippi Alum and lettered with the Ole Miss Rebels football team from 1935-1937. During his time at Ole Miss, Kinard played tackle and led the Rebels to an 18-13-3 overall record and to the school’s first bowl game appearance in the 1936 Orange Bowl in Miami. Kinard had many achievements with the Rebels, including earning All-SEC pick and was the school’s first All-American football player. Frank Kinard would go on to play in the National Football League for the Brooklyn Dodgers/Tigers and the New York Yankees. During those nine years, Kinard was a five-time All-Pro and then went on to coach at Ole Miss until 1970. In 1951, Frank Kinard was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame and is thought of as one of the greatest players to come out of Ole Miss. Twenty years later, Kinard was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Kinard died at 70 years old and was inducted into the Ole Miss Athletic Hall of Fame a year later. Kinard strove to continually support Ole Miss and its athletic program, and you should too.
