At the University of Mississippi, Spurlock had a strong football career and played both quarterback and running back for the Rebels. By his senior season, Michael Spurlock was on the starting lineup and helped his team to numerous achievements.

In 2006, Michael Spurlock signed on with the Arizona Cardinals in the National Football League. Spurlock went on to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers, Florida Tuskers and back to the Buccaneers in 2009.
